I am a Thinker, and I Think Thinks

1. I think it is important for a writer to stay current on other writers and yet still have a admiration or at least knowledge of historical great novels. No one is perfect and reading some literature is a great way to improve upon ones ability to write. A musician should listen to music, wouldn't it be ironic for a rock star to not listen to music, just as it is idiotic for a writer to not read other peoples writings. Just as music is a form of art, so is writing, because there are different styles and ways to go about writing, but all of it has a common ground which it is based off of.

2. Something that i see that scares me, it is what i don't see that bothers me. I don't see people respect their environment, e.g. school, the earth, parking lot, etc. . . I don't see American kids deep in books studying, I see privileged children throwing away their lives, at a very young age. I guess i could list every pet peeve of mine, but I am currently of age to vote, so i have been paying attention to the presidential candidates. I see the prosperity of America deeply woven into Science, the most powerful thing to boost an economy is innovation, when the car was invented in America our economy was growing at a rapid rate. And I hear presidential candidates stating that their conservative beliefs don't allow them to explore the options of science in stem cell research. I feel strongly about this because the government has the ability to make America great or make America break, and I am an American.

3. I have many inspirations, but I could not attribute it to one piece of art, but to one artist/band, Radiohead. I am now a senior at Edina Highschool and I have had my fair share of homework, this sometimes would force me to stay up way past my normal hours of operation. I would try to relax my nerves with putting some soothing Radiohead. The reason i like Radiohead is because they are not a convential band, the are diverse and have music to make you feel motivated and some that could put you to sleep. As a matter of fact, while I am writing this at my house i am listening to Radioheads newest album In Rainbows. Music is a big part of my life, I love listening to new artist, and expanding my horizion of artists.

Toward the Future/From the Past

1. Writing my play i encountered some limitations that i had to overcome, it was hard to have all the settings that i wanted to, and i wanted to have mine more like a movie, with a visual effects not with a theatrical performance. I found out that i am good at improvision, i went into the play with a vary vague idea, and turned it into a play! I would be interested in writing more of a sitcom, or bitcom, with a short punch.

2. If I were to give advice to a child, I would tell them to stay in school, we are in a world of international trade, with people included, a company will take a foreign well qualified person and gladdly pay them less, rather than a poorly educated American. In thoses days the future is the only thing you can wait for, and i would tell them that you should enjoy every moment and make every mistake for yourself, but stay in school.

3. Great liturate is timeless, the only reason i can take from that would be the meaning, some liturate from ancient greece that had great meanings and findings that were not discovered until much later in time, but only now can we look back at the greatness achieved so long ago. I doubt that i will ever be able to write something so great that it will out live me, but obiviously I am going to because thats what great people do, great things.

Luigi Pirandello

1. The theme of a story is very important, is theme is a reoccuring moral in the story, and without one I believe that the story or writing would be lacking substance. Most great novels have a moral and a theme that is why they are considereds the greats of novels, such as Too Kill A Mockingbird thoughout the novel their is a reoccuring theme to be respectful and listen to your elders and what they advise you to do. But a great newpaper articile can be well written and get the story accross or whatever the writer is trying to convey and doesnt have to have an underlining meaning such as a theme. I would say that anyone who is attempting to write a novel for anyone, kids or adults, should have a moral in the story.

2. A theme that my group could convey would respect, in the story that we are telling a wife is left widdowed as her husband is kidnapped during war, and her daughter vows to marry anyone who brings her father home to her, and he farther returns on a horse, so she marries a horse. The moral that is obivious to me is repect and loyality; the daughter is loyal to her word, and respects anyone who can obtain her father. But a theme I think that is important for a child growing up in a privlidge community is to be conservative, not to spend everything that your parents provide to you. Hard work is also a value that I am a strong believer in, and think that it is something that is lacked in Edina Highschool, the children including me are all in a bubble that seperates us from our social tribulations, you do not learn the values of hard work by your father giving you a brand new car on your birthday.

3. A conflict - A external conflict i want to write about would be a person vs. person, an man who is striving to become an artist, but struggles to get known, and a corporate american bussinessman who is trying to get away from all the drama. These two people meet in a coffee shop while on vacation in Europe, and start discussing their predicaments to each other, the artist explains he can't make enough money unless he starts lessing his art, and the bussinessman can't make enough time for himself unless he stops working. The two switch positions in life and the conflicts seem to come naturally they both can not cut it in their own lifes, regretting the decision.
